Но сомнения были и сейчас: никто не думал, что Плющенко сможет вернуться к соревнованиям после трехлетнего перерыва. Когда в августе Евгений приехал на сборы, он поразил всех своим мастерством в тройных прыжках (так говорит тренер). Но сейчас давать какую-то гарантию, по крайней мере, неразумно, считает А. Мишин. Евгений Плющенко – единственный спортсмен в одиночном катании, вернувшийся в большой спорт после трехлетнего перерыва. После завоевания олимпийского золота в Турине в 2006 году, Плющенко не принимал участия в соревнованиях до 2009 года. Тогда он вернулся в любительское фигурное катание. В этом году 27-летний российский фигурист завоевал серебро на зимних Олимпийских играх в Ванкувере.
