На борьбу с пожарами в Иркутской области было выделено 610 млн рублей. Распоряжение было дано губернатором области Дмитрием Мезенцевым.
151,7 млн рублей были взяты из субвенции федерального бюджета, 79,3 млн рублей будут брать за счет заказов и продажи лесных насаждений, а еще 378,8 млн принесет аренда лесного фонда.
Всего в лесничествах Приангарья находится 22 000 км маршрутов, число которых достигает 307. 96 пожарно-химических станций проводят дополнительную подготовку по тактике тушения пожаров, а также действиям в чрезвычайных ситуациях. Лесные хозяйства сейчас проводят досмотр техники, проверяют радиостанции, проводят инвентаризацию антенно-мачтового хозяйства. Арендаторы готовы к пожарному сезону на 68%, лесные хозяйства на 81%, а другие предприятия на 63%.
В 2009 году пожароопасный сезон начался с апреля, а закончился только в октябре.
