Жители Волгоградской области уже устали терпеть те сюрпризы, что преподнесла им суровая зима, но и наступающая весна не вызывает особой радости из-за приближающегося половодья. Осадков зимой было очень много, поэтому паводок может принести много неприятностей. Комиссия области, занимающаяся вопросами предупреждения и ликвидации чрезвычайных ситуаций, уже обсуждает предупредительные меры, которые необходимо предпринять, чтобы избежать неприятных последствий половодья.
По мнению специалистов, нынешнее половодье будет иметь два основных пика. На малых реках паводок уже начался, вот-вот начнется в Волго-Ахтубинской пойме. Затопление грозит населенным пунктам, которые расположены в пойменной зоне, в числе которых некоторые поселки, находящееся в Ленинском, Среднеахтубинском, Светлоярском районах, на островах Сарпинский и Голодный. Как утверждают в МЧС, уровень предстоящего затопления находится в прямой зависимости от объема расходуемой воды, проходящей через Волжскую ГЭС.
