В 2010 году боснийские военные присоединятся к миссии НАТО в Афганистане. Об этом 28 декабря на конференции, посвященной вопросам сотрудничества страны с командованием международными силами содействия безопасности, заявил боснийский министр обороны Селмо Цикотич. Его слова приводит Reuters.По словам Цикотича, военное ведомство подготовит проект президентского указа, в котором будет закреплено решение о создании боснийского контингента, численность которого составит около ста человек. По неподтвержденным пока данным, боснийские военные будут служить в составе немецкого или турецкого контингента в Афганистане.
Босния и Герцеговина пока не является членом НАТО. Страна подала заявку на вступление в альянс осенью 2009 года. В начале декабря НАТО отказала Боснии в получении Плана действий по членству в Североатлантическом альянсе, сославшись на то, что в стране пока не проведено достаточное количество демократических реформ.
