Открывшаяся в Армении реверсивная канатная дорога – уникальна своей протяжённостью. Её длина – 5,7 километра. Более длинной подобной дороги нет нигде в мире. Дорога расположена в Сюникской области, невдалеке от Татевского монастыря.
Первыми пассажирами дороги посчастливилось быть президенту Армении Сержу Саргсяну, католикосу всех армян Гарегину Второму и шестерым детям из сёл, прилегающих к дороге. Правда, открытие это было неофициальным. Официальное же открытие состоится 23 октября.
Строительство канатной дороги положило начало реализации проекта «Возрождение Татева». Проект этот осуществляет армянский Фонд национальной конкурентоспособности. В рамках проекта предусматривается создание туристической инфраструктуры. Общая стоимость проекта – 45 миллионов долларов. Вместе с сооружением канатной дороги ремонтируется участок дороги, длиной в 26 километров, ведущий к монастырю Татев.
Что из себя представляет канатная дорога? Это сооружение, состоящее из трёх опор, которые установлены между двумя станциями. Первая из них разместилась над селом Алидзор, на холме. Другая же – рядом с Татевским монастырём. Максимальная скорость передвижения кабины с пассажирами (вместимость кабины – 25 человек) составляет 37 км. в час. Время в пути, в одну сторону – 11 минут. Высота канатной дороги различна в разных её точках, но максимальная – 360 метров над ущельем.
