Южноафриканский суд вынес приговор 56-летней Маритье Принслоу, а также её бывшему мужу, сыну, дочери и племяннице за организацию финансовой пирамиды. Суммарный срок заключения – 29 тысяч лет.
Принслоу и её семья были признаны виновными. В обвинении насчитывалось 395 тысяч пунктовю. Сумма ущерба, который нанесли потерпевшим создатели пирамиды, оценивается в 220 миллионов долларов (1,5 миллиарда южноафриканских рандов). Потерпевших вкладчиков инвестиционной компании (финансовой пирамиды) насчитывается приблизительно 30 тысяч человек.
29 тысяч лет – срок, без сомнения фантастический! Но Принслоу придётся отбывать назначенный ей срок по каждому из предъявленных обвинений одновременно и, в итоге, провести за решёткой ей «посчастливиться» 25 лет. Родственникам досталось поменьше: каждый их обвиняемых пробудет в заключении по 12 лет.
Можно сравнить, к примеру, что создатель крупнейшей финансовой пирамиды во всей новейшей истории Соединённых Штатов Америки, Бернард Мейдофф, был за мошенничество приговорён к 150 годам тюремного заключения. По оценкам Мейдоффа, его пирамида нанесла инвесторам ущерб более 50 миллиардов долларов. Суд же сумел доказать лишь 13-миллиардные потери вкладчиков.
