На протяжении долгих лет своей деятельности компании Walt Disney World удалось создать великое множество разнообразных аттракционов. Один из них - Mission: SPACE («Миссия: Космос») – стал наиболее дорогим из всех аттракционов мира и наиболее приближенным к реальности. На создание аттракциона, представляющего собой симулятор старта космической ракеты Mission: SPACE, компания потратила около ста миллионов долларов. Такие расходы вполне объяснимы, ведь для аттракциона была использована такая же техника, какая применяется в тренажерах для подготовки космонавтов в центре NASA в Хьюстоне - Johnson Space Center.
Тестовая версия аттракциона была пущена июне 2003 года, а 9 октября Mission: SPACE открылся уже по-настоящему. На церемонии открытия побывали президент компании Walt Disney World Michael Eisner, президент НР Carly Fiorina, администратор NASA Sean O'Keefe и несколько американских астронавтов.
