A Night in With July 4th Flicks
Those fireworks can really get ya, no matter how you feel about the 4th of July. Here are a few suggestions to watch while you're grilling and chilling this weekend.

By Jenni Miller

Want to feel warm and fuzzy about America, freedom, lawyers working for justice, raising kids with values, and all that good stuff? To Kill a Mockingbird will warm the cockles of your heart as the cleft-chinned Gregory Peck defends an innocent man against a spurious rape charge in this racially charged story set in the Depression. Peck plays Atticus Finch, voted AFI's top hero in 100 years of film, in the film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Harper Lee. When he's not working for justice, Finch teaches his kids, tomboy Scout and son Jem, life lessons like, "You never know someone, until you step inside their skin and walk around a little."

Feeling a little less optimistic? Join Martin Sheen's Captain Willard in his journey to the heart of darkness in Apocalypse Now. His mission to "terminate with extreme prejudice" the absolutely unhinged Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando) who's living like a ruthless godhead in the Cambodian jungle will make you feel "the horror... the horror" of the Vietnam War. Rent Apocalypse Now Redux and enjoy an even longer, more terrifying version of the epic Coppola flick. A real crowd-pleaser!
